Gear Used For Milky White: Tony played his Gibson Nighthawk guitar (and occasionally his Fender Telecaster) through a Fender Hot Rod amp, alternately augmented by a Fulltone Full-Drive II distortion pedal, a Dunlop Fuzz Face distortion pedal, and a Small Stone phaseshifter. He also played an Ovation* acoustic guitar. John Scholvin played his Fender Strat primarily through his Marshall JCM 800 amp, but also through a Fender Twin Reverb. He also used a talkbox (for "Hang") a Marshall JMP preamp, a Mos Valve 500 Power amp, an Alesis Quadraverb+ multi-effects unit, a Fender Princeton amplifier, an Electric Mistress flanger/filter matrix, and an MXR Phase 100 phase shifter. And he played his own Ovation* acoustic guitar. Ryan Olbrysh played a Fender Precision bass guitar that he borrowed from Bruce Brodie (R.I.P.), when it was discovered that Ryan's bass, which sounded fine in concert, sounded like ass on tape. John Goodman played Tama Artstar II drums, Tama & Ludwig snares, and Zildjian cymbals. He used Remo drumheads and Pro-Mark sticks. Scott Ramsayer played a Hammond B3 organ, assorted analog synthesizers, and a Steinway grand piano. Vocals were recorded with a fantastically expensive Neumann U47 mic and an incredibly cheap Shure SM58. See if you can tell the difference. * NOTE: Ovation guitars are designed to be played live. People who use them in recordings are generally considered by serious musicians to be "idiots." |
