TONY
ROGERS ENCYCLOPEDIA, VOLUME 1
In January '05,
Tony is releasing three brand new recordings to accompany
friend and humorist Amy Krouse Rosenthal's spectacular new
book, "Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life." The songs were recorded
by longtime Good engineer Scott Ramsayer and feature John
Scholvin on guitar, Blake Cooper on drums, Tad Santos on bass,
and Marcin Fahmy on keys. Now you can get all three songs,
PLUS other previously unreleased Tony recordings, PLUS previously
unreleased Good recordings, PLUS Tony's favorite Good AND
solo recordings, all on one massive, totally remastered, 17-song
CD that features a total of 7 songs that have never seen the
light of day.
It's incredibly
difficult to put into words just how bad you want this CD,
which features:
|

POP
PSYCHOLOGY: ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK
If used correctly,
Tony's solo CD is guaranteed to save your relationship, or
at least hook you up with hot, newly available singles. Full
of songs about love, loneliness, and the culture of (duh)
pop psychology, this soundtrack to the stage show features
orchestral arrangements by John Scholvin, as well as instrumental
& vocal performances by members of The Good, Frisbie, Poi
Dog Pondering, The Me Decade, Pound Foolish, Down The Line,
The Plunging Necklines, The Daniel James Band, Maggie Speaks,
The Barking Mad, Swimmer, Cassius Clay, and many, many more.
The recordings were engineered by longtime Good collaborator
Scott Ramsayer, who also plays piano on the CD.
This is not a rock
and roll record in the conventional sense. It's a melodic
feast, serving:
|

|
1. Sit Right Down
and Let's Begin
2. Do You Wanna Be Cured By Oprah?
3. Too Much You, Not Enough Me
4. Have You Read the Book?
5. Mars & Venus
6. My Prescription for You is Me
7. Brick Wall
8. Apology Delayed
9. I'd Love Love
10. My Minivan
11. My Rock and Roll Fantasy
12. Does She Like the Same Movies?

WRITERS'
BLOCK PARTY: ISSUE ONE
|

|
What do The Good
and U.S. Poet Laureate Billy Collins have in common? We're
both on a new "audio magazine" called Writers' Block Party,
the brainchild of Chicago writer and all-around good egg,
Amy Krouse Rosenthal. It's billed as "the magazine you can
enjoy while driving," but when we tried we couldn't find the
fairway. Our contribution is an oldie but a Goodie -- "Goodbye
If You Die" -- and it closes the CD. Along the way you'll
hear 18 tracks that will make you laugh, think, dance, and
hit the repeat button. If you'd like to know more about who's
on the record and what's it's all about, visit www.writersblockparty.com.
You can pay $17 for the CD at record and bookstores, or you
can pay us $7 for one of the few copies Amy gave us in lieu
of actual money. Just click on the "Buy It" link
and we'll make it easy for you.

BIG
MONEY MAKERS
Also available
as FREE MP3's on this website, this 3-song collection was
recorded in the fall of 2000. It features the hard-rocking
Good version of "Oops, I Did It Again" (originally recorded
by Britney Spears), a melodic reworking of "The Message" (originally
recorded by Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five), and the
newest Good original on record, "Cash Room B," inspired by
a headline in our favorite newspaper, The Onion.

Three lousy bucks
for three totally un-lousy songs.

2. The Message
3. Cash Room B.

WHAT
ARE YOU SAVING IT FOR?
Throughout the
second half of 1998, The Good recorded a number of songs that
seemed destined to appear on the group's 3rd full-length CD.
In early 1999, guitarist John Scholvin left the band the remaining
foursome decided to abandon those songs in favor of the brand
new material that would become "Breaking Up and Down." The
1998 recordings have not seen the light of day, until now.
"What Are You Saving It For" is a collection of those recordings,
many of them live favorites. It also features the first Good
CD-Rom: a live video of The Good performing "Shiny Ass Pants"
on the Rob Linkhart Show.
No Good collector
worth his sea salt will want to face judgement day without
this CD in his collection.

2. Getaway Car
3. Peach Tuxedo
4. I Love Hating

BREAKING
UP & DOWN
When
lead guitarist John Scholvin left the band in the spring of
'99, songwriters Tony Rogers and Devin Arkin scrapped two
years worth of unrecorded material and began writing together
for the first time in Good history. With bassist Dave Rothkopf
and drummer John Goodman, they spent the summer recording
15 brand new compositions about harsh breakups and unfulfilled
visions of glory that add up to the tightest, most collaborative,
and poppiest darn album in the entire Good arsenal.
Released
in April of 2000 as the 3rd full-length CD by The Good on
Jumbo Records, "Breaking Up & Down" was immediately praised
by Richard Milne from WXRT
radio in Chicago as "masterful... and I mean absolutely."
It contains a full hour of music with 15 brand new, original
songs, every one of them good:
|

|
1. Rebounder
2. I'm A Boy
3. The Deal
4. Star Now
5. Sadderday
6. Fight Song
7. You Have 3 Messages
8. Kinda Forget You
9. Diamond Blue
10. Steven Ramey
11. Something You Said
12. Jenny's Jones

OFT
INTERRED WITH THEIR BONES
The
CD that started it all in September of 1994, "Oft Interred"

Entertainer lauded its "wit, angst... and considerable
songwriting talent." Denis Boyles, columnist for Men's
Health & Playboy
magazines, wrote, "While the music's worth the price of admission,
the lyrics are what elevate the disc to must-have status."
Here
are the 15 original songs, and yes, you must have them.
