The
Onion has made us wet our pants several times on the road, and
that's invaluable when there's no restroom for miles at a stretch.
Sloan
and Fountains
of Wayne are two great bands who've made records we wish we
made. ("Navy Blues," "One Chord to Another," and "Between the Bridges"
by Sloan... "Fountains of Wayne" and "Utopia Parkway" by F.O.W.)
Of course, if we'd made those records, who would have made our records?
If you were smoking pot right now, that's just the kind of paradox
that would really make your head spin.
FRIENDS
& FAMILY
We fully endorse the
activities of our dearly departed guitarist, John Scholvin. Check
out his new band Pound
Foolish, also featuring bassist Ken Gleason, who has played
live with The Good far more times than we could ever actually pay
him for.
We also endorse the Chicago
band Lemon,
our friends and rehearsal space roommates. Drummer Blake Cooper
and singer/guitarist Mike LaVista have both played in bands with
Dave, and both of them loaned us critical gear for the recording
of Breaking Up & Down. We would gladly give up our right arms for
them, if the human race evolved beyond the physical realm and nobody
needed their arms anymore.
Our old Whitehouse Records
labelmates The
Spelunkers are possibly the best band we've ever shared a stage
with. "Demand Your Annual Rent" should be in your collection.
Not for the faint of
heart: Dave's childhood chum Seth
Limmer traveled with the band during their Summer of '98 tour
across the midwest. His work as a volunteer roadie earned him a
lifelong backstage pass with the band, which will really mean something
when the band graduates to stages that have more than alleys behind
them. Seth is a dear friend, but his is a site created by two people
who think others care about how much they're in love. Don't say
we didn't warn you.
